Should I Scrap My Car?

It’s very easy to become attached to your car… you spend so much time in it after all and driving really can be one of life’s great pleasures. But, sadly, no matter how much you love your car, there’s sure to come a time when it starts to show signs of wear and tear - and, eventually, stops keeping you safe on the road.

Knowing what your options are ahead of time can help you work out the best route to go down if your car is starting to pack up around you. But when do you know that the time has come for you to take it to the scrap heap?

First of all, ask yourself if the repair costs are now starting to mount up. If you find that you’re spending increasingly large amounts on repairs, scrappage is a good potential option, because you may well still be able to make some profit.

If your car has been declared a write-off, then you don’t really have much of a choice about what to do with it. Any repairs are sure to be too expensive to be a reality, so scrap may be the only way to go.

It may also be that your car simply isn’t worth enough for you to be able to sell it, even if it is still in good enough condition to be driven around. If you’ve found that your car listing hasn’t generated much interest in the marketplace, it may be that the buyers simply aren’t interested - in which case, scrappage is always there as a possibility.
